Who owns my book?
You do — completely. You confirm it's your original work when you submit, and you keep all rights and all files: the manuscript, the EPUB, and the audiobook MP3s.
What does it actually cost?
Writing and publishing: A$0 for a genuine first book — the bonus credits cover the writing tools. Voicing an audiobook: about A$0.30 per 1,000 characters, which lands around A$120 for a 70,000-word novel. When a copy sells, the platform keeps a 10% fee — the rest is tracked to you in full. Do I need a finished manuscript?
No — you can write your book right here, chapter by chapter, with the writing tools at your side. Already finished? Upload the DOCX or EPUB and skip straight to review.
Can I publish — and sell — a book before it's finished?
Yes. New chapters go live as you publish them, without taking the book down or interrupting readers who already bought it. If you publish before it's finished, your book page says so, with the date you've committed to finishing it — one year from when it first went live.
Can I also publish on Amazon or elsewhere?
Yes. Uplit is non-exclusive — publishing here doesn't limit what you do with your book anywhere else.
Where can I sell my Uplit audiobook?
Spotify/Findaway, Google Play Books, your own storefront (Gumroad, Payhip) and the Uplit app all accept neural-narrated audio, so your MP3s are yours to use wherever those are open to you. The one exception: Audible's ACX doesn't accept narration made this way, so an Uplit audiobook can't go there.
Will Uplit get my book into other stores too?
That's what we're building next — one request from your own book page instead of a separate account with every retailer. It's in testing with a small group of writers first; not open to everyone yet.
Can I get a printed copy of my book?
We're testing that now — a real paperback proof, printed and shipped from Australia, ordered the same way you publish anything else here. Not open to every writer yet.
